For Women, Education Pays Off – But Not How You May Think

A woman’s educational attainment is closely associated with her husband’s earnings; if she’s attended college, he’s more likely to earn more money, says a study published in the Journal of Labor Economics.
“Women’s education ... dramatically increases a husband’s income,” according to researchers Lars Lefgen and Frank McIntyre.
How this happens, the researchers could only offer an educated guess. For example, higher education pay expose women to “high-ability” men who are attracted to educated women.
